Therapy for Expats

Relocating to the Netherlands may involve leaving behind family, friends, familiar routines, and a sense of belonging. Even when life appears to be going well on the outside, many expats find themselves feeling unexpectedly anxious, lonely, overwhelmed, or emotionally disconnected. These experiences don't mean you're failing to adjust. They are common responses to navigating life in a new environment. At Mosa Psychologie, I provide therapy in English for expats living in Maastricht and across the Netherlands. Therapy offers a supportive, confidential space to better understand what you're experiencing, develop healthier ways of coping, and build a life that feels both meaningful and emotionally sustainable.

Common Reasons Expats Seek Therapy:

  • Feeling isolated or struggling to build meaningful friendships

  • Homesickness and missing family

  • Anxiety or constant worrying

  • Low mood or depression

  • Stress related to work or university

  • Burnout and emotional exhaustion

  • Relationship difficulties after relocating

  • Balancing different cultural expectations

  • Questions about identity and belonging

  • Navigating major life transitions.

About Me
I'm a NIP-registered psychologist and psychology lecturer at Maastricht University. Much of my professional life takes place in international environments, where I regularly work with students, researchers, and professionals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Over the years, I've seen how relocating to another country affects much more than practical day-to-day life. Many internationals find themselves navigating uncertainty, loneliness, perfectionism, changing relationships, and questions about identity while trying to build a fulfilling life in a new place. These experiences can easily become overlooked because, from the outside, everything appears to be going well.
My clinical work focuses on helping people make sense of these experiences rather than simply managing symptoms. Together, we'll explore the patterns that keep you feeling stuck and work towards building a life that feels both psychologically healthy and personally meaningful.

Taking the first step
Reaching out for support can feel intimidating, especially if you've never been to therapy before. Your first session is simply an opportunity to talk about what's been happening, ask questions, and explore whether working together feels like the right fit. If you're an international student looking for therapy in Maastricht or online in the Netherlands, I'd be happy to hear from you.
